Nathan has been chosen as a contributor to the newly published book "Art is Dead- A Manifesto for Revolution in the Visual Arts." The book, written by abstract artist and professor Ted Mikulski, explores the status of visual arts in American culture today while including the thoughts of sixteen American artists. In his contribution, Janes addresses the influence of the consumerist culture on the fine art scene as many well known artists now employ factory-style production lines of assistants to create their original artwork while creative and effective marketing is used to sell these works for upwards of six figures each. |

In 2008, Nathan completed a commissioned painting titled, “Hemingway,” for Pete Wentz of the band “Fall Out Boy.” Pete’s English Bulldog has gained popularity among the fans of Fall Out Boy even having his own Facebook and Myspace profiles on the two networking sites. Hemmingway, who was named after Pete’s favorite author, debuted on television in FOB’s video of “The Take Over, The Breaks Over.” In response to receiving his Pop ARF creation, Pete noted on his popular blogging website the jealousy his new dog, Rigby, has over the painting. |

In 2008, Nathan completed a commissioned piece titled, “Roly & Stinker,” for model and actress Caprice Bourret. Caprice gained fame after modeling for several years for Calvin Klein and becoming the face of such products as Diet Coke, Pantene, and Wonderbra. Caprice loves to dote on her two dogs. Serving only the best organic food to Roly and Stinker, Caprice notes that the two chihuahuas probably eat better than many humans. Caprice exclaimed, “ I absolutely love it and so does everyone else” in response to receiving the Pop ARF creation of her two best friends. |
